Kim Lloyd

Ms. Lloyd
Kim began her career in education after relocating to Fort Lauderdale from a small town in New Hampshire over 30 years ago. Her professional journey was inspired by early work in New Hampshire, supporting adults with special needs who had spent most of their lives institutionalized due to limited resources previously available to families.
Upon settling in Florida, Kim earned dual bachelor's degrees in education with a specialization in Varying Exceptionalities and Exceptional Student Education from Florida Atlantic University. She later completed two master’s degrees—one in Reading and another in Education with a focus on Exceptional Student Education—at the University of Miami.
Kim’s passion for working with individuals with special needs is deeply personal. Her dedication was shaped by a close family connection—an uncle identified as developmentally delayed—whose educational experience left a lasting impact on her commitment to inclusive education.
With 30+ years of service in Broward County Public Schools, Kim has been recognized through the district’s Employee Recognition Program and has been honored as Teacher of the Year. She began her tenure as a classroom teacher in multiple areas of Exceptional Student Education, and before transferring to Sheridan, she served as an ESE Specialist for 20 years. In this role, she acted as a vital liaison between schools and families, supporting the full spectrum of student services—including evaluations, interventions, programs, and accommodations.
Kim is thrilled to return to a direct role working with high school students, where she can advocate, support, and empower them as they prepare for their futures. Her commitment to student and family success is matched by her deep appreciation for the dedicated staff at Sheridan Technical High School.
Outside of her professional life, Kim enjoys traveling, cheering on all New England sports teams, and spending quality time outdoors with her spouse and two adult sons.
